I have attended a few Showit United conferences, and this year was so much fun! Showit is a conference for photographers held in my backyard here in Arizona. (Ok, not literally my backyard, but just across town vs across the country!) Ever year in addition to learning from some of the best photographers in a typical speaker and audience setting, we get to learn from other photographers during styled shoots. The photographers will set up a photo session with couples and fabulous attire. And we get to watch them photograph the couples and photograph them ourselves! When I heard that there was going to be a multicultural styled wedding this year, I was so excited!!! I love of the multicultural weddings I have photographed and was excited to experience more wedding cultures.
Our first couple was an Ugandan and American fusion wedding. Racquel and Greyson had three amazing outfits for us! First up was a gorgeous white dress by Haitian designer Jean Ralph Thurin. This was paired with a classic tux by The Groomsman Suit. The dress was a more traditional western wedding dress with a fun Haitian flare from a slit in the front to reveal amazing floral beadwork. Then, their second outfits were traditional Ugandan wedding designs. The groom wore a Ugandan kanzu. And the bride wore a gold dress with floral detailing by Ugandan designer Solome Katalonge. And finally, their third outfits included a Ugandan red kitenge and raw silk dress by Solome Katalonge. This was paired with a velvet tux for the groom with a rose gold pin to add a little Ugandan flair.
