Sheryl and Socorro got married in Socorro’s Uncle’s beautiful backyard in Mesa. These two are some of the most in love people I have met. Which is quite funny, because when they first met, Socorro wasn’t too sure about Sheryl. But after time, their friendship blossomed into a wonderful relationship. Now they enjoy spending all of their time together and taking day trips to Northern Arizona.
It was on one of these trips that Sheryl popped the question to Socorro. Only, Socorro didn’t realize they were engaged for some time! She thought they were casually talking about getting married, and didn’t realize it was the real deal until Sheryl presented her with a ring. Thank goodness they figured that out, because I was so excited to get to know them and photograph their wedding!
The clouds were out in full affect for this lovely November wedding. After a mix up of the hotels, I arrived to take pictures of Sheryl and her groomsmen. There were laughs all around in their room as they got ready for the day. After a few pictures outside, it was time to head over to the ceremony location. The garden in the backyard was the perfect backdrop not only for the ceremony but for the photographs of the wedding details!
Just after Socorro’s aunt helped her into her dress, it was time for the ceremony. This was truly a family affair. Socorro’s niece and nephew were the flower girl and ring bearer. Socorro’s uncle walked her down the aisle and her aunt Kim officiated the ceremony. Their brothers were both standing next to them in their wedding party. The couple were surrounded by their closest friends and family as their shared their heartfelt vows.
After the ceremony we jumped in my Prius and went to a nearby park to take pictures while the guests stayed for cocktail hour. These two were all giggles and jokes during their portraits! But, I was able to sneak a few romantic portraits out of them, especially by the lake! As the sun set we took some pictures with an uncle’s vintage truck. Then it was time to head back to the home for the party!
The DJ really kept the party going all night. Instead of a traditional cake cutting, the couple shared a long-john donut! In before all the other festivities, they went out front to light some paper lanterns to remember those who are no longer with them. It was a very touching moment when the Grandma’s was the last to be lit and the first one to lift off. Once everyone dried their tears, it was time to head back into the party for the first dances. After a few more family pictures and a bouquet toss, it was time to dance the night away!
