When this couple said they wanted to do an engagement session in Flagstaff before the snow melted, I could not have been more excited! Being a native to Arizona, it is a rarity for me to see snow. I have to either make a special trip to Flagstaff, or catch a freak ‘snow’ storm in the valley.
I started google mapping like mad to find a spot that would be perfect to take their photos. I had a few places in mind and planned for my husband and I to head up in the morning to scout out the locations. We headed up bright and early and I enjoyed watching the bushes grow into trees. And then finally, snow! And a lot of it! That was a huge sigh of relief that we wouldn’t have to go all the way up to snow bowl to find snow.
I managed to eat an egg-free breakfast at The Place (something along the lines of hash browns and fruit), and then we headed out to scout our locations. After a bit of driving back and forth, we finally stopped and got out of the car. The first place we stopped was perfect! We found some locations for photos, built a snowman, had a snowball fight, and headed back into Flagstaff for lunch at our favorite spot (Mountain Oasis).
Luckily we accidentally planned the shoot on Superbowl Sunday, so there weren’t too many people crowding in to play in the snow. We honestly didn’t realize until we were already knee deep in snow. Speaking of knee deep in snow, these two were real troupers when I accidentally made them walk through knee deep snow! I made it up to them by heading out into waist high snow to get the perfect angle for a shot. Seriously, desert dwellers and snow is an interesting combination, but we managed to get through it and get some killer images!
