I met Lauren and Matt at a wedding I photographed last December. She was the bride’s sister and they were both in the wedding party. Lauren’s maid of honor speech left the room with tears in everyone’s eyes (including my own). So, I was so excited when she contacted me about photographing her wedding this year!
Lauren and Matt live in Flagstaff, so it was only natural that we take their engagement pictures in ‘their backyard’. They will be getting married in the downtown area of Flagstaff, so they wanted their engagement pictures in the pines. We met in town and I jumped in their truck and let them take me down to a secret spot (because they know Flagstaff better than I do!) and it was totally worth it! The views were absolutely breathtaking.
Even though it was Spring and tank top weather in the valley, it still felt like winter in Flagstaff. Mostly due to the late season snow storm that was coming into town. But those clouds made for an awesome backdrop for their pictures. Luckily I had my bomber winter jacket on and they are used to colder weather. But we still took plenty of breaks in the truck with the heater to warm up. We don’t need any red cheeks or my hands being too cold to take a picture!
I had such a great time with Lauren and Matt exploring and talking about our pups! These two were all smiles and laughs despite the colder than expected weather. I cannot wait to pack my jacket and head back up to Flagstaff for their wedding in November!
