#DateYourSpouse – Hell’s Kitchen Edition

Where’s my Hell’s Kitchen fans at?!  I love pretty much anything that involves Gordon Ramsey yelling at people.  That sounds pretty bad when I say it out loud… But I cannot help it!  He is amazing!  Today’s #DateYourSpouse is dedicated to those who share the same love as I do for Gordon Ramsey and Hell’s Kitchen.

Make Your Favorite Hell’s Kitchen Meal

Pick a meal that is popular in Hell’s Kitchen that you have never had before.  Or, if you frequent Ramsey cuisine, one that you have never made before.  Here are some ideas:

  • Wellington (Beef, Lamb, or there are vegetarian recipes out there!)
  • Risotto
  • Scallops
  • Capellini
  • Rack of Lamb

Search the depths of Google or Pinterest for a recipe that looks appetizing and make your grocery list!  Take a trip to the grocery store together to get your ingredients (be sure to check out the taste test below before you leave)!  Put on your favorite episode of Hell’s Kitchen for some Ramsay inspiration and cook your meal together.  Then enjoy your very own Hell’s Kitchen dinner!

Taste Test

#DateYourSpouse - Hell's Kitchen Date Night

The taste test is one of the most popular challenges in Hell’s Kitchen, and the easiest to replicate in your own kitchen!  Head off to the store with at least two different colored re-usable grocery bags (and your grocery list for your Hell’s Kitchen meal).  When you get to the grocery store, split up with a grocery bag in hand and each pick out four items for your taste test.  It would be best to agree ahead of time how crazy or simple you want to be.  Going by the contestants on Hell’s Kitchen, simple foods are hard enough.

Check out separately and tie the grocery bag so there is no peeking!  Head back home and each take turns preparing the taste test.  For an extra challenge, prepare the foods in a way that will change the texture (ex chopping nuts).  Make sure to use a blindfold so there is no peeking!  The headphones are not necessary as no one else will be guessing the foods, but they may add to the hilarity of the taste test.

Married with Children Style

If you cannot make it out to the store to buy special ingredients, have no fear!  You can still do the taste test challenge with the foods that you have in your kitchen.  It can get pretty interesting when you are trying to find foods to ‘trick’ your spouse.  (I got a spoonful of powdered pre-workout during my turn under the blindfold.)  If you are using foods that you eat pretty often, make it extra challenging by preparing the foods in unique ways.
