Megan and Sam were married at the Chapel of the Holy Dove in Flagstaff, Arizona. If you have never been there, it is the cutest little A frame chapel in the middle of the woods. It is surrounded by Ponderosa Pine and Aspen forests with views of Humphreys Peak. They chose to get married at the Chapel of the Holy Dove because Sam’s parents were married at the same chapel! Their reception was just down the street at The Colton House: a beautiful cabin surrounded by the same Ponderosa pine forests.
Chapel of the Holy Dove Wedding Ceremony
Our day started at the chapel. Megan and Sam’s closest friends and family member’s gathered and decorated the chapel just before the ceremony. Once Sam went in the chapel and Megan arrived, it was time for the ceremony to start. The views from the chapel were just as beautiful as their ceremony. During the ceremony, Megan and Sam had their guests pass around their wedding rings to pray over them. Then, they exchanged heartfelt personal vows and their rings. And with a kiss, they were husband and wife!
After the ceremony we headed outside with their family and friends. We took a large photo of everyone who made it out to the chapel. Then, after some family photos, we recreated a photo from Sam’s parents wedding at the Chapel of the Holy Dove!
As the guests drove over to the reception, Megan, Sam, and I drove into the forest in search of Aspen trees and epic views. And boy did we find them! (Thankfully, they had done a bit of scouting before hand! I don’t think my Prius would have quite made it on that dirt road.) Megan and Sam specifically wanted some photos with the Aspen trees. We found a great spot, and then, like magic, the sun lit up the Aspen leaves turning them into a gorgeous golden yellow! I couldn’t have planned it better myself.
The Colton House Reception
After exploring the forests of Flagstaff, it was time for us to head to the Colton House for the reception. There were beautiful tables set up outside for the reception in the cool September air surrounded by pine trees. The rustic centerpieces were DIY’ed with the help of Megan’s step father. And they had wood fire grilled pizzas for dinner. Into The Fire Pizza literally had a portable grill they used to cook the pizza’s on site! And Megan surprised Sam with a Crusin’ Photo Booth Bus!
Megan and Sam entered the reception and went straight into their first dance. Then it was time to share pizza with their guests. After dinner, they enjoyed their photo booth bus, sweet custom drinks, and mingling with guests under the stars.
Megan and Sam, I hope that the two of you enjoy big city life down here in the valley. And still make it up to Flagstaff often to enjoy all it’s beauty! (And Sam, I hope you get a surprise pug soon!)
My Favorite Detail – Sam’s wedding ring had a design of the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff!
My Favorite Moment – When the sun lit up the Aspen trees like a golden sunset just for the two of them.
